Facility overview

In geothermal power generation, groundwater is heated by a magma reservoir to high-temperature, high-pressure steam that is used to power a turbine to generate electricity. Since delivering Japan’s first practical thermal power plant in 1960, Fuji Electric has delivered about 60 geothermal turbines both in Japan and abroad, including the world’s largest 140 MW plant. In addition to manufacturing the individual parts of equipment used in power plants, we are also engaged in the overall plant design, manufacture and construction.

Geothermal power generation: a clean energy source attracting attention

Geothermal power generation generates electricity by effectively utilizing geothermal energy that is stored in places relatively close to the surface of the Earth. It has been attracting attention as a renewable clean energy source that does not emit any environmental pollutants such as CO2, NOx or SOx, and after the used steam is returned to water, the water is restored to the underground.

Geothermal Power Generation Systems.

Geothermal fluid is led to the separator, and the separated steam is used to rotate the turbine. If the hot water temperature is sufficiently high, a more effective double-flash or triple-flash system is employed.

When the temperature of the geothermal fluid is too low to obtain a sufficient amount of steam, this system utilizes working fluid with a low boiling temperature to drive the turbine.
